Botanical Bridges Caribbean and Central America 2022 will bring together gardens from around the region to explore issues and exchange ideas about how botanical gardens play a leading role in plant conservation and taxonomy, sustainable development goals, and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The network aims to foster collaboration ‘bridges’ among botanic gardens, botanic garden enthusiasts, and research centers interested in the Caribbean and Central American region. The congress promotes the exchange of experiences and innovations in conservation, education and research to solve common challenges faced by Caribbean and Central American botanic gardens and associated research institutions.
The first Botanical Bridges Congress took place in Panama City, in 2016. This was the starting point of The Caribbean and Central American Botanic Garden Network. The second took place in Havana, Cuba, in 2018. The third was due to take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 2020 but unfortunately was not possible due to the emergence of Covid 19.
This year’s congress will be hosted in Eleuthera, The Bahamas by the Leon Levy Native Plant from November 14th - 18th, 2022.
Registration and Abstract Submission is now open and you can find all the information needed to plan your visit to Eleuthera including registration, accommodations, and travel by clicking on the button below:

The Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve is a 30 acre world-class, botanic garden in Governor’s Harbor Eleuthera. It’s a wonderful and lush showcase of native and endemic Bahamian plants and is the first and only national park on the island.
Eleuthera island is set along the Atlantic side of the Bahama archipelago and hosts an array of spectacular locations covered with intact Caribbean Dry Forest, mangroves, coastal dunes and rocky shores.
The Levy Preserve is a 30-acre botanical garden and natural areas with kilometres of trails and native plant displays. It has been designed as a research centre for traditional bush medicine. It is the first national park on the island of Eleuthera.
The beautiful, remote island of Eleuthera is centrally located in The Bahama archipelago. It is a long and thin island, its eastern side facing the Atlantic Ocean, and its western side facing the Great Bahama Bank.
